Hey guys!  DL/Wighty, player of Levin and Roswell here.

I'm planning to app (have submitted an application for) Klarth F. Lester from Tales of Phantasia.  In his canon, he is the founder of Summoning.  He's also from a century in the past.  I've apped him as being from Dagaria's past, and with Sheepy's permission, one of the founders of the (former) village of Mist as well as, again, the magic of Summoning.  He will be transported to the future and will simply be struggling along at first, trying to understand modern politics.  The Rift will have been present in his time period; actually, the reason he is here is because a creature from the Rift was threatening Dagaria's past (Dhaos, in his canon, but unnamed here in case anyone actually apps Dhaos).

Since he's a historical figure from the past, I'd like to ask if anyone's interested in being aware of who he is.  I'd also like to ask if any Kingdom is interested in eventually having him as a military adviser of some sort, as he played this role in his canon as well within the ongoing war.

Finally, if you play a Summoner, and you are not OK with the idea of Klarth having been a father of Summoning, I will alter his background to specifically exclude the type of Summoning that your character performs.  Thanks!

Given that Xellos is a meddling old Rift-creature, he might know who Klarth is!

That would be cool, thanks! I haven't really placed him within any time period specifically, but handwave should work fine.

The backstory for Yugi's card-monster-summoning is already laid out analogous to canon, but that's SO out there in terms of form and function it's not even related...

Or it entirely IS, but that would be a lot more complicated. :D

Aha, I think it is fine if Duel Monsters is its own thing. Maybe a distinct branch of Summoning somewhere, but otherwise, Klarth will be completely confused by it.

Tyrnen here is a mage and went to a fancy school that specialized in magical things so he would be familiar with Klarth. He also knows a few summoning type spells, but it's pretty much generic fantasy, type summoning with a few different methods pulled from fiction and mythology.

I think this means the kind of summoning that the Holy Grail uses was around prior to Klarth, but that's really it's own specific obscure thing even in canon, I think. Very powerful, but also extremely limited.

I am going to say that the Holy Grail thing probably has nothing to do with normal summoning whatsoever, or at least what Klarth does. It should be cool.

Klarth will so do a Pokemon battle. Sylph is practically the same as Pidgey, right?

Whoops, I forgot to clarify that he is coming from a time before he establishes Mist, although it would be a vague dream he has always had to have a whole village of students learning Summoning. Is that cool with you?

So what might be interesting is if he knows about the Book of Darkness. It's appeared in various times in history and tends to summon a group of knights. Also it's totally bad news every time it comes up.

I think it'd also be interesting if he's some very distant relative to Rydia, since their summoning is somewhat similar, although they've ditched the long incantations.

The Book of Darkness is the Grail War bit, right? I actually just talked to someone above and agreed that it would be totally different from Klarth's Summoning, but yeah, I don't think it would be too out of the realm of possibility for him to be aware of the Grail War and the summoning involved there!

I am totally game to have Rydia descended from him. Final Fantasy is one of the Summoning systems closest to ToP, yeah.
