Um, hi!

I've been giving a lot of thought to joining this game, but I'm not really experienced with AU settings. I was hoping to get some help brainstorming ideas.

The character in question is Alice Elliot from Shadow Hearts.

I was definitely planning on her being involved with the church, because she had a pretty religious upbringing in canon. She's also a healer, in the magical sense, is generally very moralistic and helpful and can be downright meddlesome.

I've also been considering making her a diplomat.

Other than that, I'm still trying come up with specifics for her AU history. And to figure out where she could fit in plotwise. So I'd definitely appreciate any help you lovely people might decide to provide.

I intended her to still be a healer, but I honestly wasn't sure what to do with the whole demon eyes thing.

I guess that could be a couple things. What came to mind is being able to sense other forms of people or rifts pawn. It could really be taken in a lot of contexts in a place like this.

Ohh, that would be useful. And maybe give her some things to do besides make friends and heal people.

I was a little concerned about being able to get her involved in plot, since in Shadow Hearts about half of her plot involvement comes from being the kidnapee of the year.

Yeah! Given that her powers were sought after ingame, making them useful enough for people here to want them would make sense. I'd imagine that would definitely be the case with riftspawn running about. And since the church has a lot of problems here, she'd have quite a bit to do there. Also it's Alice, and considering she's one of my favorite characters evarrr I would make sure she had stuff to do.

That would. I wasn't sure how much of her powers I could keep. I didn't want to seem greedy.

Sorry I'm late to the punch, I didn't notice this until now. You can generally keep all of the abilities so long as they are toned down to a not-leveling-entire-cities-at-will degree. Everyone is considered to be about equally badass and the more "powers" you have tends to translate to more fun options if/when you fight log.

Alice will never be a 'badass' fighter. But her healing powers do extend all the way to resurrection. Which may not level cities, but is pretty powerful.

And she also does have an ability to sense things about people or places. Knowing that a house is haunted, for example. Or sensing the presence of demons.

The ressurection is the most problematic of those abilities but we can work with it - there are ressurection mechanics in game already so it would just have to be difficult for her to use but within her scope, likely she'd need very specific components and the ressurection spell itself would be an entire quest.

Ohh, a quest sounds interesting. But a spell like that would totally be worth it. Especially if there was someone important she had to resurrect...

Honestly though, I was less worried about powers and more about deciding how she fits in with the world.
