We need some more villains. What does anything think about THIS one?

("But Dragon, you already play Xykon." "Shut up, he's a much longer-term villain.")

So I'm thinking Aku has a powerbase somewhere far, far away, and is trying to meddle in Dagaria for his own personal gain. Power! Minions! Catching that fooooolish [insert hero here]. No real long-range plots for him, but rather a villain that can be recurring and troublesome, but able to be short-term vanquished, though not long-term.

In other words: HEY HEROES YOU WANT A VILLAIN TO FIGHT?! I GOT ONE! WHADDYA WANT WITH HIM!

Hey, Dragon, want a team-up with another demon god(dess) based somewhat on Japanese mythology? He can get a kingdom-sized faction of evil beings to add to his own minion force!

It's up for change, of course, but Tokoyami's goal is to spread darkness around the world and make it one into where only evil beings can live. Riftspawns, generally. Ninetails' ultimate mission is to awaken Orochi and spread his curse throughout the lands which would 1. turn a fair percentage of the world's populace into stone, 2. drain water and life from the lands, and 3. make the lands a lot more inhabitable for daemon.

Ninetails is under the service of Yami, the Emperor of Everlasting Darkness, who would return to the lands on the Day of Darkness, when the sun is eclipsed. That's my plan, but any idea on how you want to work with this? I'm totally fine with sharing power with Aku.

Hmm. I realize that if you mix canons, then Aku is a fragment of Yami. Perhaps Ninetails awakens him on a day of eclipse as part of the goal, and Aku plays along, inevitably planning to betray her AND CLAIM DAGARIA FOR THE ALL POWERFUL SULTAN OF SORROW!
